TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp. is planning to sell its entire equity stake in KFC Holdings Japan, which runs the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain in Japan, Nikkei learned Wednesday.

Mitsubishi, which has a stake of around 35% in KFC Holdings, will soon conduct the first round of bidding for the sale of its shares. Although the restaurant operator's earnings are solid, Mitsubishi is reshuffling its assets in hopes of strengthening its earnings capacity.
