TOKYO -- Nissan Motor will suspend merger talks with Honda Motor as the two Japanese automakers have been unable to reach a consensus on the terms of the deal, Nikkei has learned.

Nissan informed Honda on Tuesday of its intention to halt the talks. On Wednesday, Nissan held a board meeting and discussed scrapping the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in December regarding negotiations on business integration.
