SHANGHAI/HONG KONG -- German and British companies operating in China have become less optimistic about business prospects in the country, according to new surveys released this week.
The annual business confidence survey published by the German Chamber of Commerce in China on Wednesday showed that only 15% of respondents saw improvement in their industries in 2024, the lowest since 2018, while 55% observed deterioration compared to last year. Moreover, just 32% of the surveyed companies said they expect positive development of their industries in 2025 -- another low -- while 29% anticipate deterioration.
