TOKYO -- Services aimed at introverts are gradually taking hold in Japan, which is a boon for those who prefer to avoid unnecessary chatter with sales clerks.

The number of such services has increased, in part because the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to cut back on in-person interaction. Now people who prefer to keep it that way have more options.
