HAMBURG, Germany -- Only days before he is to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, German chancellor Olaf Scholz is facing calls at home to rethink the country's business ties with Asia's biggest economy.

With 246.1 billion euros ($244 billion) in bilateral trade in 2021, China is Germany's largest trade partner and a key source of revenue for many of its biggest companies.
