MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto recorded robust sales growth last year as increasing urban spending and rising farm incomes spurred demand for scooters and motorcycles in Asia's third-largest economy.

Hero MotoCorp, India's largest two-wheeler maker, posted record sales in 2017 at 7.21 million units, reflecting a 6.7% increase from a year earlier. Rival Bajaj Auto reported a 2.8% increase in April-December sales, its best since 2014.
