TOKYO/HANOI -- Japanese companies are accelerating their drive to snag overseas talent by offering corporate-sponsored classes at universities around Asia, turning abroad as dwindling domestic birth rates sap the workforce at home.

In the fiscal year ending in March, Japan Inc. is offering more than 50 such programs in emerging and other economies, with many smaller businesses competing with South Korean and Taiwanese rivals who have adopted similar strategies.
