SEOUL -- South Korean food companies facing population decline at home have made inroads into the global market, with industry leader CJ CheilJedang building a production network that spans 34 international locations.

In 2018, CJ acquired U.S. frozen food maker Schwan's Co. for about $1.8 billion, signaling the start of its overseas expansion.
