Buyma has department stores in its sights

Investors, though, don't much care for parent company's shares

Buyma's top page recently tried to hook shoppers with discounts and other enticements.

TOKYO -- Buyma, an e-commerce site that helps luxury brand items make their way to Japanese fans, is growing so rapidly that it rivals department stores.

The value of its transactions from last February through October jumped 40% on the year and is forecast to top 30 billion yen ($254 million) for the year through this month. That is equivalent of the transaction value at a midsize department store in Japan.
