LAS VEGAS -- Sony Group plans to develop a new electric vehicle business that will generate recurring revenues from services including software and content updates, just like the subscription fees from its Aibo robots.

"We've adopted the recurring model for the [robot dog] Aibo, and we plan to go in that direction" with EVs, Chairman and President Kenichiro Yoshida told reporters Wednesday at the CES 2022 consumer tech expo in Las Vegas. Under that model, Sony charges Aibo owners regular fees for ongoing technology updates.
