BEIJINGBaidu has hit a wall in its struggle to overcome its dependence on the internet search business, and unless the company cultivates new earnings sources, it could lose its standing as one of China's big three in online services.

Revenue for the July-September period slid 0.7% from a year earlier to 18.25 billion yuan ($2.68 billion), Baidu said on Oct. 27, the company's first year-on-year drop since it debuted on the Nasdaq in 2005.
