WUHAN, China -- Baidu on Wednesday debuted its sixth-generation robotaxi, which costs the Chinese technology company less than 50% of the previous version.

Baidu developed the RT 6 jointly with state-owned automaker Jiangling Motors Group. It costs Baidu 200,000 yuan ($27,702) to procure each unit, down more than 50% from the fifth-generation model co-developed with Beijing-based BAIC Group.
