GUANGZHOU -- Electric vehicle makers BYD and Nio are among the latest manufacturers in China to deploy robots that can walk, talk and carry objects on factory floors, as the nation faces a shortage of production workers.
BYD introduced the humanoid robot Walker S1 from Hong Kong-listed Chinese startup UBTech Robotics at its factory in Hunan province this year.
