TAIPEI -- China's Huawei Technologies said it has built tech "academies" in 110 nations to cultivate hundreds of thousands of engineers a year, as it continues to extend its overseas presence despite Washington's crackdown.
Rotating chair Meng Wanzhou said on Tuesday in her New Year note that Huawei has helped train more than 300,000 students every year with its collaborative information, communication and technology academies, known as the Huawei ICT Academy, in cooperation with more than 3,000 universities in 110 countries. Those talents have become the "vital workforce in helping digital transformations locally," Meng said.
