MUMBAI -- India's largest coffee chain, Cafe Coffee Day, confirmed Tuesday that its founder and chief has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.

V.G. Siddhartha "has not been reachable since yesterday [Monday] evening," chain operator Coffee Day Enterprises said in a regulatory filing. Police reported he was last seen Monday night at a bridge spanning a river near Mangaluru, a port city about 350 km from the company's headquarters in Bengaluru, according to Reuters.
