Galaxy ties Philippines' casino to Belt and Road project

$500m investment planned for first resort outside Macau area

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong-listed Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group said on Wednesday its proposed casino resort project in the Philippines supports the Chinese government's Belt and Road Initiative of infrastructure projects stretching into Southeast Asia, to support economic ties between the two regions.

"Through our Boracay project in the Philippines, we will fully support the central government's Belt and Road Initiative," Galaxy Entertainment's Chairman Lui Che Woo said at a press conference announcing the company's financial results for the year ended in December.
