BEIJING -- China's Hisense Group must bring the television operations it recently bought from Toshiba into the black within three years, Chairman Zhou Houjian said Wednesday.

Listed arm Hisense Electric acquired Toshiba Visual Solutions from the troubled Japanese conglomerate in February. "My hope is that it will become profitable within a year," but reaching that goal within three years is essential, Zhou told Nikkei and other media at the National People's Congress meeting here. The Hisense chief is attending as a representative of Shandong Province, where the company is based.
