TOKYO -- A small project was launched on Jan. 15 in a shopping area around the Shin-Koshigaya station north of Tokyo that aims to do away with the need to carry a credit card or a smartphone for payment.
Instead, customers can make purchases simply by placing their palm on a scanning device, which identifies the person by their vein pattern.
