BENGALURU -- Indian authorities have ordered the local unit of Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi to pay 6.5 billion rupees ($87.80 million) in import taxes that it allegedly owes for the period between 2017 and 2020.

India's Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday that Xiaomi Technology India excluded "royalty and license fees" it paid to Qualcomm and Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software from the total value of goods that it and its contract manufacturers imported.
