TOKYO -- In an unfolding scandal that involves Japan's third-largest casualty insurer and a major secondhand car dealer, investigators have found that insurance company Sompo Japan had a culture of prioritizing market share over customers.
Sompo Japan employees had a mindset of putting the company's topline ahead of the interests of policyholders, lawyers investigating the scandal on behalf of parent company Sompo Holdings said in a report on Tuesday.
