Company plans bonus to longtime leader who drove overseas expansion

OSAKA -- Leading air conditioner maker Daikin Industries will pay a 4.3 billion yen ($27.4 million) bonus to outgoing Chairman Noriyuki Inoue to recognize his decades of service to the company, Nikkei has learned.

The bonus will be part of the agenda at Daikin's general shareholders meeting on June 27, after which Inoue will step down as chairman and director.
