SENDAI, Japan -- Japanese consumer products maker Iris Ohyama will build a new manufacturing plant in Tianjin, a major port city in northeastern China, to expand its product portfolio and distribution network for China's fast growing e-commerce market.

The new plant will cost about 5 billion yen ($46 million), and construction is scheduled to end in December 2021. The company is looking to rack up 5 billion yen in sales of products manufactured at the plant in the first year of operation.
