TOKYO -- Japanese mobile carrier NTT Docomo has decided on the appointment of Vice President Yoshiaki Maeda -- previously of human resources giant Recruit -- as its new president, looking to use Maeda's experience in content to shift away from telecommunications and focus on entertainment and finance.

This is the first time since Docomo launched in 1992 that an employee with roots outside the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Group has become president. Current President Motoyuki Ii will move to an advisory role.
