TOKYO -- Japan's Unicharm will launch its third factory in India to boost production capacity for disposable diapers by 30% there, positioning the market as a steppingstone for catching up to global leaders like Procter & Gamble.

Investment in the new factory, which starts operating this month in western India's Gujarat state, is estimated at 20 billion yen ($131 million).
