
TOKYO -- Telecommunications provider KDDI and trading house Sumitomo plan to boost mobile service operations in Myanmar, more than doubling base stations to 5,000 by next spring.
The two Japanese companies, partners with state-run telecom provider MPT, have said they will invest 200 billion yen ($1.61 billion) in mobile operations in the newly opening Southeast Asian country, where they now maintain 2,000 stations.
