OSAKA -- The chairman and the president of Kobayashi Pharmaceutical will resign, Nikkei has learned, taking responsibility for the delayed disclosure of information and for health problems and deaths that could be linked to the company's red yeast rice supplement product.
Chairman Kazumasa Kobayashi and President Akihiro Kobayashi are both members of the company's founding family. Senior Executive Director Satoshi Yamane is expected to become president.
