TOKYO -- Konica Minolta will enter the market for label and packaging printers by lifting investment in a French affiliate, targeting a new source of revenue as the rise of the paperless office dulls demand for its mainstay products.
The Japanese maker of printers and other office technology will pay around 10 billion yen ($89.9 million) for an additional 30.5% stake in France's MGI Digital Graphic Technology, making it the largest shareholder with a 40.5% interest. Konica Minolta acquired the first 10% in 2014.
