OSAKA -- Japanese construction machinery maker Kubota said Friday that it will build a new factory in Germany to produce mini excavators, planning for a long-term rise in demand in Europe despite an ongoing downturn there.

The plant, to be built near an existing factory run by German subsidiary Kubota Baumaschinen, is slated to start up in 2026 and will eventually boost the unit's production capacity for mini excavators by 40%. The size of the investment was not disclosed.
