TOKYO -- Japanese engineering company Mitsui E&S will begin making cranes in Vietnam, tapping rising demand as U.S.-China tensions spur companies to shift their supply chains to Southeast Asia.

Mitsui E&S will work with a local company that builds steel structures in Vietnam, aiming to supply about 30 cranes per year within two to three years. Physical production will be handled by the Vietnamese partner.
