Nippon Steel sues Mitsui & Co. over patent infringement

Japanese steelmaker says trading house was involved in Toyota-Baoshan deal

Nippon Steel is taking legal action to protect its patents on a highly functional steel that allows a motor to rotate with less power.

TOKYO -- Nippon Steel has filed a lawsuit against Mitsui & Co. for infringing on patents that cover nonoriented electrical steel sheet, Nikkei has learned.

The suit was filed on Dec. 10 in the Tokyo District Court.
