BANGKOK -- Nissan Motor launched its Terra sport utility vehicle in the Thai market on Thursday, hoping to propel Asian growth with a frame tough enough for rugged terrain.
The Terra is Nissan's first SUV in Southeast Asia with the same body-on-frame construction of the 1-ton pickup trucks popular in the region. It will compete with Toyota Motor's Fortuner and the Pajero Sport from Mitsubishi Motors, a fellow member of Nissan's alliance with Renault. The price will start at about 1.32 million baht (nearly $40,000).
