Panasonic eyes battery production in China for Tesla

World's top producer to assist with US electric car maker's China expansion

Panasonic and U.S. automaker Tesla are partners in battery production.

LAS VEGAS, U.S. -- Panasonic will consider making batteries for Tesla's electric cars in China, Kazuhiro Tsuga, Panasonic's president, told reporters Tuesday during a group interview at this year's CES trade show in Las Vegas.

Panasonic is the sole supplier of lithium-ion batteries to Tesla, making them in Japan and the U.S.
