MANILA -- The Philippines' largest nickel ore miner is expanding its renewable energy business as it pushes to grow beyond core operations that have been overshadowed by volatile metals prices.

Nickel Asia plans to boost its renewable power generation capacity by nearly six times in the coming years, President and CEO Martin Zamora told Nikkei Asia in an interview last month.
