Rate hikes revive Japanese delivery service Yamato

Operating profit expected to increase for first time in four years

Yamato Holdings, a popular delivery service in Japan, has used rate hikes to regain financial health.

TOKYO -- Yamato Holdings, Japan's top door-to-door delivery provider, is seen forecasting a further recovery of its business performance for the year ending March 2019.

Its consolidated operating profit forecast is expected to be in the neighborhood of 50 billion yen ($457 million). That would be up 80% from the recently ended year. This suggests the carrier's first operating profit increase in four years.
