Samsung hopes Galaxy Shops boost its fortunes in Japan

Customers check out Samsung's latest gadgets at a Galaxy Shop at Bic Camera's flagship store in central Tokyo.

TOKYO -- Despite selling more smartphones than any other manufacturer in the world, Samsung Electronics continues to trail its U.S. and Japanese rivals in the Japanese market. Hoping to change that, the South Korean company has launched an offensive that has seen it open several Galaxy Shops showcasing its latest gadgets inside large electronics retailers across the archipelago.
