Shiseido plots new gambit after tourist buying frenzy passes

TOKYO -- Shiseido's unpromising fiscal 2016 earnings forecast may have left investors wondering whether inbound tourists' spending spree has already peaked. But the Japanese cosmetics maker can look to South Korean peers for other ways to tap demand from travelers.

     The company expects to log operating profit of 38 billion yen ($337 million) for the fiscal year ending in December, a decline of 14% from the annualized figure for fiscal 2015, an irregular nine-month period due to a change in the book-closing date.
