TAIPEI -- Apple supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing said in a local exchange filing Wednesday it has reached an agreement with Qualcomm to purchase the U.S. mobile chipmaker's facility in the northern county of Taoyuan for $85 million.
According to a source familiar with the deal, TSMC will turn the Qualcomm plant, which churns out display products using the U.S. company's mirasol technologies, into an advanced packaging facility.
