Taiwan's hottest AI startup Appier looking to expand in Asia

Platform knitting device ownership with audience profiles appeals to marketers

Yu Chih-han, CEO of Taiwanese artificial intelligence startup Appier, speaks to the Nikkei Asian Review on May 29 in Tokyo.

TOKYO -- Appier is arguably Taiwan's hottest artificial intelligence startup, offering companies technology to navigate the ocean of consumer data across multiple smart devices to reach their marketing targets.

Founded in 2012, the Taipei-based company led by Yu Chih-han said it has received $49.5 million in two rounds of funding so far from investors such as Sequoia India and Japan's JAFCO. Earlier this year, Appier was named one of Fortune's top 50 AI startups in the world.
