NAGOYA -- U.S. electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors will open eight maintenance centers across Japan within the year.
The company currently operates only one service center, in Yokohama, but will open branches in other major cities in Aichi, Osaka and other prefectures. The new centers will not be able to conduct government-mandated safety inspections as the Yokohama center can, but will be able to perform light body work and routine maintenance on Tesla vehicles, and can take the cars in for heavier repairs.
