Tokyo Disney traffic unshaken by summer of disasters

Visitors mark record half as Chinese, European and US tourists keep coming

TOKYO -- Tokyo Disney Resort welcomed more than 15.5 million visitors in the six months ended September, its first record for the half in five years, even as earthquakes and torrential rains struck Japan.

Traffic increased 5% on the year, operator Oriental Land said on Monday. Attendance appears to have gotten a boost from celebrations of Tokyo Disneyland's 35th anniversary, as well as a reduction in the cost of annual passes.
