Toyota drivers will get a hand from Line's AI assistant

Audio and navigation systems will be controlled by voice commands

Toyota is expanding its lineup of connected cars with AI-powered voice recognition technology.

TOKYO -- Toyota Motor will make an artificial intelligence platform by messaging app Line available on vehicles sold in Japan starting this winter, aiming to attract younger consumers with connected car features.

The automaker plans to make a Smart Device Link system that connects vehicles with smartphones available on new models this winter along with the Clova AI platform. Future Toyota vehicles with the SDL system are also expected to support Clova.
