Competition heating up in Hong Kong TV industry

HONG KONG -- The competitive landscape in Hong Kong's television industry is becoming more crowded, diversified and complicated, but consumers can expect a host of new content options.

Hong Kong's TVB will launch an over-the-top TV service on April 18.

Television Broadcasts, the leading terrestrial TV broadcaster in Hong Kong, is launching a 30-channel online pay-TV service, while PCCW, the top telecom in the city, will soon start free terrestrial TV broadcasting. Netflix's expansion into the market will further competition, too.
