TOKYO -- Sumitomo Forestry has launched an environmentally friendly office building renovation business in the U.K. that uses wood, an approach that will make it easier to meet the country's increasingly strict environmental regulations.

The Japanese company will the tap a supply network for timber and building materials that it has cultivated in Europe. There are plans to develop the U.K. business into an overseas business pillar, behind only the U.S. and Australia.
