TOKYO -- Thai cosmetics are finding fans among young Japanese shoppers, thanks to the products' resilience against heat and humidity as well as their relatively low cost. But only time will tell whether they can follow South Korean brands and become an established consumer trend.

A Japanese woman in her 20s said the Thai face powder she buys online is useful in the summer. "I have oily skin, so it reduces shine, and I like that the smooth feeling lasts a long time," she said.
