Tokyo to extend financial support to Indian students in Japan

Help aims to securing AI specialists as global competition for talent grows

TOKYO -- Parties including Japan's education ministry and the University of Tokyo will boost initiatives to attract students from India to help secure talent in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, Nikkei has learned.

The plan will extend financial assistance to about 270 Indian graduate students and conduct recruitment activities in the South Asian country.
