Daikin seen hitting record profit on energy-saving A/Cs

Strong U.S. and European sales, cost cuts drive earnings higher

OSAKA -- Japan's Daikin Industries, one of the world's top air conditioner makers, is expected to report its highest net profit ever for the year ended March 31 thanks to strong sales of energy-efficient models in North America and Europe, Nikkei has learned.

Group net profit likely rose about 40% from the previous year to roughly 215 billion yen ($1.65 billion), topping the company's forecast of 210 billion yen.
