TOKYO -- Yoshihisa Kainuma's lament for the recent closure of Yaesu Book Center's main shop, one of Tokyo's landmark bookstores, is somewhat ironic.

"It's very shocking," the 67-year-old chairman and CEO of Japanese parts supplier MinebeaMitsumi said in an interview with Nikkei Asia. "I thought that at least one would have survived. I guess it's because everyone is browsing everything online and not in the real world."
