TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Electric will spend more than $140 million to convert its U.S. auto parts factory to make air conditioning equipment, which is in high demand for use in data centers supporting artificial intelligence.

The company expects engine part demand to drop as cars move toward electrification. Meanwhile, the AI market continues to grow.
