Factory automation, auto equipment could be pared to fund higher-growth fields

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Electric will decide this fiscal year whether to withdraw from struggling businesses with combined annual sales of 800 billion yen ($5.5 billion), mainly in auto equipment and factory automation, to shift resources to growth investments, the company said Wednesday.

"We will significantly reevaluate our business structure and fundamentally rework its content to elevate our corporate value," President Kei Uruma said in a strategy briefing.
