SHANGHAI -- Olympus will start assembling endoscopes and other medical devices for the Chinese market in China, the head of the company's operations there said, in response to government pressure on hospitals to buy domestically made equipment.
Core components manufactured in Japan will be assembled into products such as flexible endoscopes at a new factory in the eastern Chinese city of Suzhou.
